"Buried inside the shadow are the lost pieces of the soul, which shine with the light of a billion suns. By bringing more discernment, mercy, and compassion to our engagement with our spiritual beliefs and practices, we open a portal for the lost ones to return."

about

a little about me

Hello!   I offer you a very warm welcome here. My temptation was  to tuck this page away somewhere in the back of this site.  Because of course this work is so much about my clients and not about me.  But of course, it is so important to understand a little about the person who you are trusting to guide you in this work.

I have always been drawn to understanding the deeper dimensions of nature, life,  people and story and for the longest time was drawn toward studying psychology.  However on closer inquiry, couldn't quite reconcile how current psychology degrees went anywhere near the depth and breadth of understanding I was craving.  That was until I came upon Sofia University (previously known as the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology).

The Masters in Counselling Psychology I completed wove together current psychological theory with transpersonal inquiry, embodiment practice, dream studies, creative expression, depth inquiry, compassion and curiosity.

This formation guided me onward towards more study in depth modalities and saw me train formally in Internal Family Systems, Mindful Somatic Approaches to trauma and ecotherapy.

I have had the good fortune to continue my studies in community with some of the wise elders in my field including Francis Weller, Dave Talamo and Matt Licata who focus on the intersection of soulfulness, spirituality and psychotherapy.

I am based out of Castlemaine, Victoria however see clients locally, nationally and internationally.  Both in person and online appointments are available.

my philosophy

I believe that every individual is born into this world with a unique inner wisdom that holds the key to authentic and meaningful presence in the world.

Through life experiences we can sometimes build protections, distortions and burdened ways of being that can leave us feeling out of alignment and with a deeper knowing that we aren't living authentically.

My approach is designed to gently uncover and reconnect you with the innate knowing held in your body, mind and soul. I work with individuals and couples who are wanting to understand who they are and why they relate the way that they do.   Those who are ready to come home to themselves at a deeper level.

Mindful Somatic Approaches to working with trauma

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic philosophy that honours the natural multiplicity in our personality.  Instead of battling difficult thoughts, or seeking to change them, IFS takes a compassionate approach, helping you to understand the positive intent behind all parts and unburden past traumas to restore inner harmony.

Mindful Somatic Approaches to working with trauma

My training in this area takes an integrative approach to mindful-somatic trauma therapy that draws on collective wisdom and practice across Hakomi, Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness and Sensorimotor psychotherapy.  This approach establishes safety and resourcing before trauma processing and integration.  It also honours the wise protection established in the psyche.

Depth Ecotherapy

Mindful Somatic Approaches to working with trauma

Depth Ecotherapy

Depth ecotherapy is a therapeutic approach that merges ecopsychology with depth psychology to treat the whole person. It treats human mental health as intrinsically linked to the health of the Earth. It moves beyond basic "nature walks" to heal deep-seated emotional trauma, foster an ecological identity, and address modern alienation.

Transpersonal therapy is deeply rooted in the fundamentals of transpersonal psychology and it focuses heavily on spirituality, consciousness and the overall expansion of the self. Unlike many traditional therapies, transpersonal therapies incorporate spirituality into the healing process. Transpersonal therapy integrates modern psychology

Transpersonal therapy is deeply rooted in the fundamentals of transpersonal psychology and it focuses heavily on spirituality, consciousness and the overall expansion of the self. Unlike many traditional therapies, transpersonal therapies incorporate spirituality into the healing process. Transpersonal therapy integrates modern psychology with spiritual, transcendent, and holistic practices. It focuses on the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—aiming to help individuals move beyond their everyday ego to achieve deeper self-awareness, personal growth, and a greater sense of connection to the world.

FAQs

No!  Psychotherapists and Counsellors in Australia don't require referrals so there is no requirement for a Mental Health Care Plan,

Currently in Australia, Counsellors and Psychotherapists are unable to accept Mental Health Care Plans.  I aim to structure my fees to keep them in line with or below gap fees charged by Psychologists.

Whilst I cannot offer medicare rebated sessions, I aim to keep my fees in line with rebated sessions.  My fees are as follows:

  • 60 minute individual:  $120
  • 90 minute individual: $180
  • 60 minute couples: $160

I do offer reduced rates for health care card holders so please let me know if this applies to you

Your first session is an opportunity for me to learn more about you, your story, what is bringing you into therapy and what your hopes are for the process.  It's also an opportunity for you to learn more about me and how I work.

Please let me know if you are curious about  working this way and we can work out the best place to hold this session.

I will have a short discussion over the phone to ascertain what is bringing you to therapy.  I will then meet with each person individually to get to know them and what is bringing them to therapy and to assess whether couples counselling is suitable for you at this time.   Please note I do not work with active family violence and will refer these cases on to more suitable services.
